Met with Nancy for a coffee in Opatja. We were workmates in Hannover in 1996.
Now she lives as a travel guide and can support you with your holiday in Croatia.
Going to Senj, visiting the castle.
Following the coast south, with a good view on the Island Krk.
Going east into the mountains towards the Winnetou mountains…. of course I played the soundtrack via Spotify. 🙂
Entering Bosnia&Herzegovina via Izacic nearly was a desaster……I had too many radios in my car and didn’t declare them on the entry….well. for me it is just normal travel stuff, like others have Iphones and Ipads and stuff…..we had an inspection that lasted 1 hour and we were confronted with “ we can confiscate everything and the schedule with the judge can be in 1 to 4 days….. well, technically, he was right, in reality we were just two old guys enjoying our hobby and I didn’t think about „how much stuff can be brought into a non-Shengen-country…..“ while we were on transit through Bosnia to Montenegro and back in to EU-/Schengen-Region…..after 1 hour of a thoroughly car inspection and 1000 questions, , entry into Bosnia was denied and we could leave with no fine back to Croatia. Lesson learned. Accepted.
I changed my underpants after that…..
well, we took a looong detour to the border in Dvor and declared our hobby equipment to the surprised custom, showed a handwritten list with radios and serial numbers….. they smiled, we smiled. have a nice day….. they just were not interested in us. Oh: in Croatia, we passed small roads very very near to Bosnia (non-Schengen / EU-Border). we were inspected by Croatian Police 4 times within 15 kilometers/ 30 minutes….. I have a suspicious smuggler car… thanks police. I like protected borders and Passport controls….
we needed nearly 11 hours for just 500km….
driving slowly through the night.
Cows, dogs, boars, deer, fox –
all sorts of stuff on the roads….
