Heading Home with Transceivers in Tow: The Perfect End to the Wyboston Adventure
An action-packed radio weekend in Wyboston, UK, has come to a close. E77DX, DJ4MX, and DM9EE have officially made their way back home.
VIP Treatment and Ferry Fun
Our journey took us from Wyboston straight to Dover. There, we boarded the DFDS ferry to Calais. The crossing turned into a mini ham radio reunion in the VIP lounge, where we caught up with DA1NEN, KN2P, and DL5NEN.
The highlight of the crossing? Our „Sleeping Beauty“ photo session! The long weekend had clearly taken its toll. Somehow, every single person was caught taking a nap at least once during the trip. It was an absolute blast and gave us all a great laugh!
Radio Wonders and Ukraine Relief
After rolling off the ferry, the drive across Europe lay ahead. On our way to Holzminden, we made a quick detour to visit DK3HV, Hanno. This stop served a vital purpose: we collected several donated transceivers for the DM9EE Ukraine Relief project from his local Club members. A massive thank you goes out for this incredibly generous support!
Beyond the charity work, we were absolutely blown away by what we saw. Hanno’s amateur radio station is deeply impressive, and his beautiful garden provided the perfect, relaxing backdrop for our short travel break.
Midnight Fuel at Hellers Krug
Just before midnight, we finally arrived in Holzminden—tired but incredibly happy. At DM9EE’s Hellers Krug Hotel, the weary travelers received a legendary welcome meal: the famous DX-Schnitzel.
It was a truly successful trip filled with great encounters, impactful aid, and the perfect culinary finish!
