Hi, I am Carsten. 52 years old, married to Julia, 2 kids, Frederik14 and Klara 12.
Since I am 16, amateur radio is my favourite hobby.
Which means, I make contacts world wide via my own radio and antennas.

One of my lifetime goals is to visit 100 countries AND operate from them.
So, I take a small radio and wire antenna with me to make contacts to my friends, worldwide. So far I have travelled to 40 countries and operated from nearly 50 hotels and locations.

You read this,probably because I gently want to ask you, if your accomodation would support me in my hobby and allow me to set up a small unprovoking antenna.

Antennas preferably need to be high and in the clear. Means, if I may have accessto a (flat top) roof or roof terrasse, it would be perfect.
But if our rooms are located in one of the upper floors will also make me happy to use the antenna on the balcony or some place in the garden or elsewhere it does not disturb other guest.
Usually I need some 10m of wire which I can attach to a fishing rod that I will have with me. It is not catching up much attraction. I am working quitly and without leaving traces. You may contact the other hotels, if you want. Btw.: I own a hotel myself 🙂

During a 1 week stay I make up to 3000 contacts to other friends, worldwide.
While talking to others can be done, I prefer silent modes like morse code (yes, still 1million hams know how to do telegraphy) and digital mode.

Is it legal ? yes, of course. I do have a license in Germany and the USA and I can use my radio in many countries under CEPT-regulationsT/R 61-01 , which means, I do not even have to apply for a license in your country. If I had to apply, I have done it before booking the hotel and attach a copy for you.
